Well this weekend I decided to go for the back-to-back weekend and arranged trips on both days.
On Saturday I took part in a Sustrans Fresh Air Miles ride at Chapel Brampton along with Paul, my fellow "Team Di-Eaz" member. Unfortunately, we were the only two people who turned up (the weather was pretty awful)! The leader, Kieron still decided to do the ride which was good of him in the circumstances and we had a nice ride along to Market Harborough and back. We passed through 2 old single-bore railway tunnels which were both about 400-500 metres long- quite a surreal experience as there are no lights, only small reflectors. You just have to look at the light at the other end of the tunnel to get your bearing and keep straight!
Lovely scenery though despite the weather and we rode 28.8 miles in total.
On Sunday I paired up with Toyin who I met through the Parks Trust Easy rides. I thought I had a training buddy all set up and then she announces she's moving to Brighton on Wednesday!! Such is life.
But the ride was great and the weather was kind to us. It was a loop from Milton Keynes, just skirting Whitchurch and back through the Claydons and Padbury - turned out to be 55 miles in total. We stopped round about halfway at the Black Boy in Oving (http://theblackboyoving.com/) and had a wonderful lunch before carrying on our way.
I certainly felt a bit saddle-sore when I got home but no major blisters!!
