BRIGHTON AND TOE CLIPS

All good news really:-
  • completed the Brighton 50 mile cycle ride at the weekend and got the certificate and medal to prove it
  • didn't fall over! Not once...
  • Bill's sister and niece sponsored me (it was in aid of the British Heart Foundation) so felt a bit better for using their event as a training run. (I had paid to enter by the way!)
  • Bill bought me the T-Shirt and it says Brighton 100 (as there was one ride of 100 miles) which sort of gives the impression I did the 100!!
  • only got off and walked once
  • felt OK about consuming too many calories over the weekend
Above is Devil's Dyke, which Constable described as the "World's Grandest view"  but, having cycled up 656 feet overall to get there, I'm not sure I quite saw it that way at the time!

TOE CLIPS

I've decided to give these a go.  They should make me more efficient so I reckon this will come in handy if I can get the hang of it by November.
Started off well; 12kms on Sunday and the usual 14kms to work on Tuesday...fine.  14kms home on Tuesday and I fall off right outside my own front door trying to get my left foot out of the straps (and painfully not succeeding!)

I'm looking forward to the Brighton ride on Sunday of 50 miles and hoping for decent weather (and to have got the hang of toe straps too- that would be handy!)

TRAINING IN THE LAKES

I just spent a most enjoyable (well most of the time!) weekend by Lake Coniston at a training session organised by Sonia from Anthony Nolan.
We were blessed with great weather and wonderful scenery- can't ask for more.
We had a talk by the team from Evans Cycles on Saturday afternoon and then on Sunday took part in one of their organised rides.

http://www.evanscycles.com/ for details of what they do.

I did plan to do the 60 miles but found the hills too tough for a Milton Keynes girl and so went for the 30 miles instead!  Tough at times but great fun and a lovely bunch of people (thanks William for the use of your photo!)
I'm also booked on a Brighton ride of 50 miles at the end of the month, so the miles are racking up.  I've done about 780 miles since the end of June.
